CardPayments Philosophy

Retailers are great at selling their goods and services to Customers, however when it comes to Card Payments I almost always recommend that Retailers outsource their card payments processing, to minimise the PCI DSS / GPDR compliance footprint.

Card payment processing is moving into an exciting era and opportunities abound in reducing the costs / complexity of card payments processing, whilst removing friction in the processes and expanding functionality.

ProjectManagement

Philosophy

If managing a complex workstream is like a long windy road then the best project managers use the team's vision / experience to identify and clear the inevitable avalanches before the project car arrives at that part of the road.

Individually none of us have all the answers and collectively though we do. A good project manager can be taught these skills if they have the right pro-active attitude of looking for critical issues before they appear.

Trust in these proactive processes, the luckier / easier it gets.......... or is it just good management anyway?

IncidentResponse

Philosophy

All IT systems have vulnerabilities that can be exploited by skilful dedicated hackers. It is therefore more about have InfoSec defence in depth, having early warning processes (i.e. 24 x 7 Gartner top tier SIEM) and having a well understood / rehearsed InfoSec Incident Response process.

Having clear roles and responsibilities and regularly tackling realistic threat scenarios will prove invaluable in dealing with one of the worst events that can occur to a large company.
